Our Philosophy
Built in the 1800s, this country estate has been thoughtfully renovated, balancing luxury and sustainability. The estate is located 5 minutes from Ponta Delgada in the historical citrus growing town of Livramento. It is now an architect-designed boutique hotel, with 9 rooms and suites across 4 buildings, all reflecting the rich history of the island, surrounded by the wildlife friendly gardens. Take a walk in the thoughtfully restored grounds of the estate or indulge in one of the exclusive estate guest only experiences including Shinrin Yoku, vegan cozido or a sushi dinner. The Solar Branco Estate is a place to put your phone down, breathe, laugh and enjoy time with those around you.

Accommodation
Step into a beautifully, and carefully restored, Azorean farmhouse cottage on the Solar Branco Eco Estate. This is a perfect, romantic place for couples, and the perfect place to spend your time while here on the island of Sao Miguel. The first thing you hear is nothing but the quiet breeze of the Atlantic winds bristling through the willow tree at the back of the property. Wander through the green Azorean landscape, glance across the rolling hills to the ocean beyond. This comfortable studio apartment effortly mixes modern design and showcases over 100 years of Azorean history.
Your accommodation has large windows to allow light into the cottage as well as shutters for sleeping. Views across the private gardens to the farmland and ocean beyond. The studio space features a king-size bed, couch and chairs. A kitchen (with fridge and hotplate), as well as cooking utensils, are on hand for meals you wish to cook. A luxurious rain shower and stylish bathroom complete the accommodation.
A fresh breakfast, made of local ingredients and produce is included and left outside your door each morning. Please inform us of any requests or dietary requirements the day before on the card supplied.
Located 5-minutes drive from Ponta Delgada, Ali and Caroline will meet you and show you around the cottage and estate. You will find a complimentary bottle of locally made wine on arrival. As a guest of the estate, you are welcome each day in The Gin Library for a complimentary Gin and Tonic. Guests also receive a 20% discount on all estate experiences. A guide to the sights, local-only tips and favourite restaurants is also supplied (we are happy to make dinner reservations as required.)
We are happy to book other experiences from our handpicked partners for activities such as whale watching, horse riding, hikes or fishing amongst other activities. Sustainability is key to the Solar Branco Eco Estate and we kindly ask that you place your recyclable items in the bins provided. You are welcome to take your food scraps to our chickens at Cluckingham palace or leave it outside the cottage and we’ll take it to them.
