It all started with the barn, where goats, donkeys and chickens lived in harmony, or almost ... We produced raw milk cheese, we cultivated strawberries in organic farming, with help the summer months by woofers. But sometimes life changes “our plans” and we had to stop our activity.
So I decided to make one of my dreams come true: build an ecolodge.
I admire modern architecture with large windows overlooking fabulous landscapes and I admire constructions that are well integrated into their natural environment. It was with these concepts in mind that I transformed the barn into a “homemade” chalet. I added my personal creations and made the interior setting warm, comfortable and pleasant, to just enjoy or cook delicious meals in a functional and well designed kitchen.
My desire is to be as autonomous as possible, therefore I chose to use solar panels and a wind turbine for the production of energy and hot water. I continue to cultivate a small vegetable garden and the garden has become a small oasis. For several years, the chalet has welcomed visitors from all over the world, who leave delighted and relaxed. I like to share and spend time with travelers and I try to make myself as available as possible to help them improve their stay. I love sharing with them the best addresses, advice for hiking and places that are worth visiting in the region. Sometimes we share an aperitif or even a meal. Meeting new people is always a great experience, especially because I feel that we are part of the same community, seeking to travel with respect and sharing of our environment.
La Bergerie is located in the heart of Corsica, in the Niolo valley, famous for its high peaks, its wild pigs and tasty cheeses.
